Seeking Postdoctoral Fellows

BASE is a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy specialty practice that has been founded as a partnership between Dr. Kristin Daley and Dr. Andrea Umbach. We are located in Charlotte, NC, between the Southpark and Sedgefield neighborhoods. The office is in a building that has recently been remodeled to be LEED certified green energy and is conveniently located near several restaurants and the Sugar Creek Greenway.

Both Dr. Daley and Dr. Umbach have been practicing in Charlotte for many years and have specialist training. Dr. Daley is certified in Behavioral Sleep Medicine, and serves on the Practice Committee for the Society for Behavioral Sleep Medicine. She is an active speaker for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. In addition to her work in sleep, she has trained in both DBT and ACT. Dr. Umbach is board certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy, founded the Charlotte Anxiety Consortium, and is author of “Conquering Your Fears & Phobias for Teens.” She is an active member of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America.

Our mission is to move the field of psychology forward through our regular integration of evidence-based interventions, assessment of client progress, and participation in training psychological professionals. Our team is made up of exceptionally trained providers who utilize evidence-based interventions to help clients thrive. BASE intends to set the standard for the modern practice of psychology.

Our practice is built on four essential principles:

  • Balance: Balance is sustained by opportunities for both inhibition of impulsive behaviors and activation of growth behaviors.

  • Awareness: Awareness is essential for positive emotional growth, as most people have desire to change and develop, but lack the insight required for making effective choices.

  • Strength: Discovering and engaging with personal strengths is key to psychological growth and well-being. BASE clinicians assist their clients in identifying and cultivating desired strengths and utilizing acceptance strategies to engage with forward momentum.

  • Evolution: Evolution will occur both on a clinical level for individual clients and through BASE supporting the evolution of clinical practice of psychology.

Clientele: We are a private pay practice and do not participate with insurance. We offer sliding scale services to people who have financial need.

Provider Requirements and Benefits

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate interest in practicing in a manner that is consistent with the BASE mission of moving the practice of psychology forward. Our postdoctoral training program will emphasize education and training within clinical psychology, with options for particular emphasis in the private practice of CBT, DBT, and ACT interventions. Additional areas of emphasis include health psychology, behavioral sleep medicine, OCD, eating disorder treatment and family-based approaches, based on candidate interest. An ideal candidate has a broad range of interests with the career goal of private practice. Postdoctoral candidates will be provided with supervision and continuing educational opportunities to meet NC and SC licensure requirements.

Expectations

  • 40 hours per week

  • 25 client hours available

Requirements

  • Use office electronic medical record system, client portal, and g-suite email system

  • Attend weekly business and case consultation meetings

  • Attend weekly supervision

  • Participate in professional organizations, educational CEs, and conferences

  • Maintain liability insurance at 1m/3m level
